Boutique stays

The stays we stand behind

Every hotel and villa Epicure Greece books is one we have tried and tested ourselves: five-star houses, private villas and places that defy category, collected over years of travelling Greece for the corners worth returning to. They come as part of a journey we design and run, not as rooms booked on their own.

The standard

No compromise on quality

Every tour company promises it will not compromise on quality; the phrase is nearly a cliché. At Epicure it is simpler and more literal than that. We are a company of avid travellers who have ventured all over Greece collecting favourite spots, and we have slept, eaten and swum in every accommodation we offer our guests.

That lived experience is what holds the standard, from our destinations to corporate journeys and weeks under sail. And the glue that holds every journey together is the place you sleep. Which is why we do not book rooms on their own: the stay is chosen for the journey it belongs to, and the two are designed at the same time.

Two ways to stay

The villa or the hotel

See the islands

The private Greek villa

For many guests the perfect Greek holiday means venturing out to one island or several, and there is an understandable romanticism to staying on your own. A private villa is a personal paradise to stretch out in. No two villas we use are made quite the same, which is part of the fun; every one of them holds to the highest standard.

The unforgettable hotel

Tourism is the biggest industry in Greece, and the care its hoteliers pour into their houses shows. Five-star hotels are everywhere here, which makes the real work finding the truly exceptional ones inside that abundance of luxury. Tell us what you are looking for and we will name the right one.

A sample, not the list

Five places we keep going back to

  • A sculpted white pool with a thatched daybed above a rocky bay
    Ios

    Calilo

Calilo belongs to the LuxurIOS project, which develops authentic and sustainable tourism on the island of Ios, and it carries an almost mythical beauty. Its interior and architectural design is among the most striking of any hotel we have ever seen: hand-crafted mosaics, driftwood chairs, scalloped tiles and stunningly worked marble at every turn. Most suites come with their own private waterfalls and plunge pools, which says something about the ambition of the place. There is nowhere quite like it, on Ios or anywhere else.

  • Whitewashed suites along a lit stone lane at dusk
    Milos

    Milos Cove

First impressions at Milos Cove are of sleek, modern decor. Then the deeper concept comes into focus: the unique geology of Milos and its caves, translated into the rooms, the suites and the structure of the hotel itself. Sea views run through the property, private pools mark its quieter corners, and the whole place is composed for seclusion. When the brief is to disappear for a few days without giving up a single comfort, this is the island address we reach for.

  • A private infinity pool on a hillside terrace, the sea beyond
    Ios

    Hideout Suites

Ocean views, infinity pools and quietly luxurious rooms, set on a hillside of Ios above the island’s rugged Aegean coastline. Hideout Suites is a collection of modern suites built into the slope itself, balancing contemporary architecture with the natural landscape that holds it. Harmony is the word the hotel designs by, and it is the word guests use afterwards. For a stay that keeps the island close and the crowds far, it has everything we ask of luxury island accommodation.

  • The pool courtyard at Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort in Kamari, black volcanic stone arcades and palm trees around a geometric-tiled pool
    Kamari, Santorini

    Radisson Blu Zaffron Resort

The Zaffron Resort holds a particular place within Radisson Blu’s global portfolio of luxury hotels. Nestled in Kamari Village with some of the best views of Santorini’s volcanic beaches, it balances peace and tranquility with a real sense of energy and vivacity. The design takes its cue from saffron, harvested locally, and those rich, earthy hues run through all 103 rooms, villas and suites. For guests drawn to the island’s east coast, it is an easy house to recommend.

  • The windmill of Windmill Villas in Santorini at sunset, sails against a pink sky, geraniums and the private pool below
    Santorini

    Windmill Villas

Santorini keeps approximately seventy historical windmills, and those old structures are partly responsible for the island’s singular aesthetic. Windmill Villas lets you live inside one: a complex of traditionally built windmill villas as striking within as without, with a private pool, a jacuzzi and a flower garden attached. Staying here adds a further layer of authenticity to a Santorini journey, the kind a photograph cannot quite carry. Of everything we book on the island, it may be the most quietly romantic.

Named on this page because we know them in person, and shown only in photographs we hold the rights to publish. Availability moves with the season, so every stay is confirmed in writing as part of your journey.
